Camp Ministry Growth

FCA Camp Ministry is anticipating another record year! For the 2008 season of the FCA Camp Ministry, we have 255 camps currently scheduled (up from 240 in 2007).

There will be seven types of FCA Camps: Sports camps, Team camps, Leadership camps, Power camps, Coaches camps, Partnership camps and International camps.

The fastest growing type of FCA Camps is Team camps. Around 80% of attendees are un-churched, and each student is impacted by the Gospel message during the week. We have 37 Team camps scheduled for this year, up from 29 camps this past summer.

International Ministry

FCA continues to broaden its reach in International Ministry by partnering with Operation Mobilization (OM). OM has been reaching the world for the past 50 years, ministering in 110 countries with 4,500 staff. The partnership will focus on key focus fields by building relationships with existing OM Leadership.

Target areas will include: Italy, Korea, Argentina, Eastern Europe (Moldova, Ukraine, Hungary, Romania), India and Israel/West Bank. International Ministry recently impacted India through the leadership of Sunil Peter Gaddam, India FCA director. India FCA partnered, sponsored and organized an event called NIGHT OF THE STARS on February 8th. As a preview, the Power Team went to schools and colleges to perform and give the Gospel presentation. The total number that was reached was approximately 20,000.

At the NIGHT OF THE STARS, sportspersons and Veterans were honored and the Gospel was presented. Overall, 3,500 people attended. Follow up events included a special youth meeting, and the team preached in the church and many committed to become intercessors and prayer warriors.

FCA Sports Ministry

FCA Sports impacts specific sports communities for Christ by uniting athletes and coaches around a particular sport. FCA Sports is excited to announce the launch of our two newest sports ministries: skateboarding (Jan. 1), led by national director Nate Giarratano and ice hockey (June 1), led by national director Rick Randazzo.

Currently, we have eight national sports ministries: golf, lacrosse, baseball, health and fitness, motocross, endurance, skateboarding and ice hockey. Our goal is to have twelve in the next four years and expand FCA’s impact to every athlete, every coach and every sport.

Coaches Ministry

Thirteen new Coaches Ministry directors trained during the 2007-2008 Coaches Ministry Director School, bringing the total number to 18 in 14 different states. Each director leads small groups of coaches in a discipleship study. Over 576 coaches have been discipled in groups known as Legacy Builders. To date, Coaches Ministry has participated in 9 of 11 planned national coaches conventions and has conducted 26 outreach events attended by over 5,400 coaches.

Campus Ministry

FCA Campus Ministry ministers in the school setting through student-led Huddles and school assembly programs. In the first 8 months of the 2008 fiscal year, there were 6,913 campuses with certified Huddles. This means FCA is reaching 345,650 students every week!

One Way 2 Play Drug-free assembly program brings a faith-based message into junior high and high schools across America. Professional athletes speak on how Faith, Commitment and Accountability are crucial to staying drug and alcohol-free. Nearly 500,000 students have committed to playing drug and alcohol-free since 1991, with 40,563 joining the pledge in the first eight months of the 2008 fiscal year.
